Here we tell small stories about various philatelic single items. The PDF contains background information on the topic of the item/stamp, which could be featured in an exhibit with the respective item (whether it’s the theme, Open Philately, or Social Philately). Sometimes you may wonder if the connections between the item and the theme are a bit far-fetched, and sometimes they are more obvious. But how far you go with this – perhaps in your own exhibit – is entirely up to you. We certainly enjoy letting our imagination roam when finding connections between the item and the theme.

Colonel Edward Howland Robinson Green (1868–1936) was an American philatelist, known for his exceptional collection of rare stamps. After his mother’s death, he inherited a large fortune and used it to acquire unique pieces like the entire sheet of the “Inverted Jenny.” Green was a methodical collector and greatly influenced philately in the USA. Many of his pieces are now part of renowned collections. The name “ex Colonel Green” in philatelic circles represents valuable and significant collector’s items.
