Sun Yat-sen (1866–1925) was a Chinese physician, revolutionary, and statesman who is considered the father of modern China. He turned away from medicine early on, convinced that China could not be saved through healing arts but only through political reform. His medical studies brought him into contact with Western ideas, which strengthened his desire for reform. After his reform proposal was rejected by Li Hongzhang, he founded the Revive China Society in 1894—marking the beginning of his revolutionary career. Although a proponent of Western medicine, his symbolic role as a “doctor and savior of the nation” paradoxically contributed to the renewed interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Endometriosis is a chronic, often progressive disease in which tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, causing pain, infertility, or both. It affects around 10% of women of reproductive age and is difficult to diagnose due to its varied symptoms and frequent delays in detection. Most cases are pelvic, but the condition can appear elsewhere and present in different forms. In Spain and worldwide, endometriosis poses a major public health challenge. The Association of Women Affected by Endometriosis (ADAEC) was founded to give a voice to those affected and to raise awareness of this long-silenced disease.
