On 27 and 28 June 2026, the Regional Championship took place in Bregenz. This year, it was especially beautifully integrated into the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the Achsiedlung neighbourhood. Despite the intense heat, many visitors attended the event and contributed to a pleasant and lively atmosphere.
We were particularly delighted by what has now become our traditional annual reunion with our philatelic friends from Tyrol. The collections on display also provided plenty to talk about: the exhibition featured a range of interesting, high-quality entries that once again impressively demonstrated the great diversity and quality of philately. The jury members were Gerhard Blaickner and Peter Schmid.
From our perspective, there was even more reason to celebrate: Daniela Vogt Weisenhorn became Regional Champion in the Picture Postcards class, while Clemens won the title of Regional Champion in the Thematic Philately class. Congratulations to both of them on these wonderful achievements!
We were represented with a joint promotional stand for four clubs and specialist societies: the International Rosenegg Stamp Club, ÖSVLPH, LPHV, and the Medicine and Pharmacy Study Group. This also led to one or two interesting conversations with non-philatelists—perhaps the first step towards discovering an interest in our wonderful hobby.
All in all, it was a highly successful and thoroughly enjoyable event. Our heartfelt thanks go to the Bregenz Philatelic Society, especially its chairman, Robert Rubenthaler, and his dedicated team—and, of course, also to the ladies who provided coffee and delicious cake on Sunday. It was a warm, welcoming and excellently organised event that we will remember with great pleasure.
